A colectivo is a form of transportation in Mexico that is quick and convenient for locals and tourist. You will find these vans to move quickly through the streets and highways. In tourist zones in the state of Quintana Roo, the colectivos are new vans with air-conditioning. Anything outside of these areas you will find them to be less appealing but just as efficient. If you want economical travel and you don’t mind ridesharing in and around Playa Del Carmen then go to Calle 2 between 20th Ave and 15th Ave. It’s very easy, just ask one of the attendants which van takes you to your destination and he’ll direct you where to go. This is where you get a colectivo to go to Cancun, Tulum, or now Chiquila to get the ferry to Holbox. Depending on your destination you could pay up $40 pesos.
