Calle 38's newest major restaurant, Amate 38, brought to us by the same team that created Queva de Chango, never ceases to amaze. Today we joined a full house at lunch for Papadzules, tortillas stuffed with hard-boiled eggs with a epazote sauce and jumbo shrimp with chaya sauce, complemented by proper tortilla chips cooked in beef tallow. This modern take on Mayan cuisine is worth a try!
Upscale dining, great service and a location in a beautifully lit cave make for a once in a lifetime dining experience. I thought it would be a gimmick but the food and service won me over. this would be a great restaurant even if it were not in a cave!
